The obsession with long natural hair!

Okay, so, how about I got a comment that stated "my hair should be longer than it currently is because I have been natural for over three years."  So this question illustrates some peoples clear obsession with length over the health of hair.  Back in the day, I used to be one of those people.  When I sat in my stylist's chair I was not to fond of getting my hair trimmed. However, upon listening to her advise, I saw my hair grow down my back.  This was due to reguarly shampooing/conditioning and trimming. Other factors were eating a moderately healthy diet and exercising.  Fast forward to now, as a licensed cosmetologist, regular trimming is still a must for healthy hair.  I have seen some naturals that do not trim and if that works for them, great.  I personally, know my hair texture and what my hair is capable of doing.  At it's best it will curl up for me with nice springy curls which allow me to wear "puffs, twist outs, wash n go's and when the mood hits me... a flat iron style."  When it is not properly maintained with regular conditioning and trimming my styling options are limited.
